The school opened in 1909 with probably 20 students and over the years was located in a Murrayville cheese factory, in a house, and later, the Langley Central location (which was lost to fire in 1993). If you enjoy meeting people, sharing stories and learning about local history, we’d love to hear from you. The Langley Heritage Society is accepting applications for volunteers to help interpret the historic Fort Langley Heritage CNR Station. We’ll train you to share its rich history to visitors from around the world. Volunteers act as guides and answer questions inside the 1915 station house, 1947 passenger car and vintage wooden caboose with its delightful 1950s era HO scale model railway. Our new season begins this coming Victoria Day Monday from noon until 4:oo pm. Volunteers are the lifeblood of our society and have kept this award-winning organization vibrant for 40 years. Langley Heritage Society volunteers were treated to opening day at the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway in Cloverdale. More than 100 volunteers keep these restored BC Electric Interurban trams in immaculate condition and rolling down the tracks. Everyone we met took so much pleasure in sharing the FVHRS story -- be sure to pay a visit this season! For more on the FVHRS, visit HERE. The BC Electric Interurban tram runs from the replica Cloverdale BC Electric station to Sullivan Station and back.
