School Heritage Fair Season!

Langley Heritage Society members pitched in to help judge the recent Dorothy Peacock Heritage Fair. The students put their hearts into an impressive array of subjects -- genealogy, residential schools, the Kettle Valley Railway, equal rights and more. Thanks to Rosemary Genberg, Ellen Edwards, Toots Tucker, Sylvia Anderson, Sandra Reams, Grace Muller, Syd Pickerell, Joan Bennett and Bob & Daisy Armstrong.  The next Heritage Fair is coming up at James Kennedy School on March 5th. LHS Through The Years

Dixon House, painting by Lyle Longstaff   Langley Heritage Society has saved, restored and managed heritage buildings for forty years -- from Langley City's Michaud House to the Fort Langley CNR Station and the Dixon House & Barn at Milner. Thanks to the vision, commitment and sweat equity of countless volunteers,  we have a proud legacy for the future. These structures remain standing and are very much alive -- most are home to caring tenants. All of this has been achieved through creative partnerships with the Township of Langley, Langley City, Metro Parks and others. Click HERE for a brief Power Point to see what we're talking about. Heritage Tea & Social 2020

What a great day at the annual Heritage Tea & Social at the Milner Chapel! New CNR Mural Chugging Along

The splendid mural for the Glen Valley Model Railway at the Fort Langley CNR Station keeps expanding. The latest scene (to scale) from artist Lyle Longstaff is above. You can view the model railway and former mural in the latter part of our video HERE. Lots of exciting changes and additions to on-site interpretation are coming when we open for a new season on Victoria Day weekend! Thanks to Lyle for his inspired contributions that help us tell Langley's stories at the heritage CNR Station.

February Valley Voices

Métis artist and carver Patrick Calihou is building a York Boat at the National Historic Site similar to the ones his ancestors built and worked aboard.  Valley Voices meets a man building a York Boat or bateaux at the Fort Langley National Historic Site, and we get a sneak preview of an historic sports fashion exhibit at Langley Centennial Museum. Valley Voices is heard Wednesdays at 11 am on CIVL Radio 101.7 FM at the University of the Fraser Valley and is a production of the Langley Heritage Society. On the Horizon

Artist Lyle Longstaff continues his work on murals for the Glen Valley model railway. Mount Baker is looking spectacular! The 1920s caboose that houses the railway is getting some TLC in the off season. More about the Fort Langley heritage CNR Station HERE.
