The family of a WW I veteran named William James Lutman (1885 – 1963) wants to learn more about his time at Milner (or possibly Willoughby) in the late 1920s and 1930s (and possibly beyond). He may have purchased a cabin from someone named Bob. His great-great nephew Greg Stott tells the story:
“My great-great uncle William James Lutman was a veteran of the First World War and fought at the Battle of Vimy Ridge. He was from London, Ontario but had lived in Vancouver from 1906 to 1915. In about 1926 he returned west and was briefly back in Vancouver but thereafter seems to have established himself in Milner, BC. His whereabouts are unclear and his family was largely unware of his activities or whereabouts for protracted periods of time. However, I recently found this undated missive in the papers of my great-grandmother Florence J. (Lutman) Houghton (1881-1969) who was William’s sister and it appears as though he was going to buy property from a certain Bob and asked another sister Annie (1877-1955) for a $100 loan.”
