In recent years there have been three different proposals for the Fort Langley waterfront in the Marina Park and Haldi House area. Consultation is beginning to pick up steam again. In addition to a Township of Langley survey, the Fort Langley Community Association wants to know what you'd like to see happen in this area (the Langley Heritage Society is part of this consultation process and eager to see restoration of Haldi House and retention of green space). To complete the Township's survey, go HERE. Go HERE to take the Fort Langley Community Association survey. Each requires just a few minutes of your time.
Join us at the historic CNR Station on Canada Day from 10 am to 3 pm for a Fort Langley Community Garden Scavenger Hunt. The first 200 kids get to plant a red and white sweet pea and take it home. We're joining the BC Farm Museum, National Historic Site and salishan Place by the River in a Garden Passport Adventure with gift baskets to be awarded. See details below.
Meet volunteer Aedan Smyth, a grade 12 student at Brookswood Secondary School. Asked about his favourite artifact in the CNR freight room, he grabbed the stumping powder box. This was vital to railways and farmers to hasten the removal of trees and stumps. Adan has a keen interest in railway history and his plans include pursuing a history degree at Simon Fraser University. We wish him well and thank him for volunteering at the Fort Langley heritage CNR Station. We're always eager to welcome new volunteers. Find out more HERE.
