Langley Heritage Society has awarded RE Mountain Secondary student Julia Kim with a $1,000 scholarship to further her studies. Julia was chosen, “for her community involvement, excellent academic standing, and for being a well-rounded individual.” The scholarship is given in honour of the late Bays Blackhall, a dedicated heritage and conservation advocate.
We asked Julia about her goals for the future: “I will be studying Law and Society at UBC through the Coordinated Arts Program. I am hoping to graduate from UBC and study even further at a law school to become a lawyer. I hope to be able to protect the minorities in society and give them a voice in situations when they are not able to. However, my ultimate goal is to become a judge in court after practicing law as a lawyer. I would like to thank the Langley Heritage Society in Honour of Bays Blackhall Memorial for offering this scholarship allowing myself to continue on my journey to achieve my dream.
